Our July, 2007 Issue Featuring Photo
Spreads and Reviews of:
  • World War II Weekend in Reading, PA
  • McGuire AFB Air Show
  • US Army Golden Knights

Plus, Our Regular Department - Looking
Ahead, and some Corrections and
Updates to previous issues.
It’s time to highlight some
really sharp Texans.  On this
page is Kevin Russo’s SNJ-6
(121-42318, N211A) which
is an ex-USAAF AT-6D (44-
81596).  Though the aircraft is
in Navy colors, Kevin is a Lt.
Colonel in the USAF reserve
out of McGuire AFB where he
flies C-17s on the weekends.
He is a crowd favorite at
WWII Weekend.
It’s nice to step back in time and see how the
Navy used to mark aircraft.  This is one of the
prettiest Hornets around, amplified by the fact
that it’s a CAG-bird (commander’s aircraft).  If
this were a new Super Hornet its paint scheme
would be toned down and be more low-vis like
the aircraft at the bottom of the page.  Because
this is an older F/A-18A+ model (162886) we
are able to enjoy a well-marked aircraft.  This
Hornet hails from VFA-87 and is assigned to the
USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).
We complete our Navy page with an F/A-18F Super Hornet (166658) from VFA-106,
the ‘Gladiators’.  This squadron is also based at NAS Oceana.
